Hello, this is my first post here. I'm looking for alternative ways to relieve stress and pressure, aches and pains in my back. I broke my L-4, L-5 and S-1 vertebrae when I was in High school and last year I refractured two of those vertebrae. I'm tired of all this built up tension throughout my back and I do not want to continually go to the chiropractor because I feel that the more I go the more I "think" I "need" to go. So I have been searching for other ways of coping with the pain and discomfort and I came across this video on some lifestyle website and it talks about submerging yourself in salt saturated water... I'm not really sure I fully understand it, and I definately don't want to pay for something, especially that is expensive if it's just simply doesn't work... it sounds interesting and I'm all for trying new things but I remain skeptical until I have heard first hand from users, or people in the "know". So does any one know anything about this process and or treatment?

here is where I found the video: http://www.sunsetstrip.com/lifestyle/float.html

and there here is the link to the actual center: http://www.floatla.com

Any help or suggesstions are GREATLY appreciated!

Sean

Hi Sean:

Thank you for visiting our forum.

I have a friend that "swears" by floatation tank therapy. For many years, she suffered from chronic fatigue syndrome, and most likely fibromyalgia. She experienced severe pain throughout the body, and achieved quite a bit of relief by using a flotation tank.

She didn't begin to fully recover, however, until she began using ozone IV therapy, whereby she began daily injections of ozone into the bloodstream.

Considering your condition, I would also consider acquiring an inversion table. You can get a mid-grade table for about $400.00 US.

Of course, some people experience excellent results using clay externally-- both with clay baths and with clay poultices. Clay seems to be more effective when the pain is in an isolated place ( in other words, those experiencing isolated back pain, rather than pain in their entire back ).

Research muscle imbalances. If your chiropractic care produces only temporary relief, then you may be experiencing problems due to imbalanced muscles.

Kind Regards,
