I have just opened my 2nd 5 pound package of clay. I have only taken it internally and it's been about 3 months now. At first I was mixing the clay with psyllium but after I gagged I found a new method that works very well. I take it twice daily an hour before breakfast and again before bed.
I have ingested 5 lbs of clay so far.

First I heat water in the microwave very hot for no less than 3 minutes in a coffee mug. It's so hot I have to use a wash cloth to grab the handle because if you don't you WILL burn yourself. I carefully pour this water into a disposable plastic cup and measure 1 TBS of clay into the cup and let it set several hours so the clay settles to the bottom. By doing this you will not have ANY lumps. Waiting at least 3 hours or over night is best.

When you are ready to use your clay take another cup and fill it with apple juice. I don't buy organic I buy the cheapest juice without added sugar I can find. Add your 1 TBS of psyllium stir and let sit. I probably only let it sit 10 to 15 minutes. Stir a few times as it sits.

While this sits start your clay by taking take a large bowl and fill it with the hottest water you get from your tap/faucet. Set the cup in this hot water for like 5 minutes. Then dump the water, fill it again with hot water, put your cup of clay back in and stir your clay with your plastic spoon. I find warm clay tastes much better than cold.

Now you can take a gulp of your psyllium juice first and drink your clay or drink the clay and finish all of your juice. Make sure you leave enough of the juice to get the clay grit and taste out of your mouth.

At first I was just taking the clay and juice and I felt better but passed nothing strange in my BM. With the help of this group I was told to add colon cleanse herbs. I went to Wal-mart and found something called colon cleanse and take it around dinner time. The directions say to take 2 but I take 3 and if I have any discomfort I stop the clay and herbs for a day or 2. (I tried 2 pills and it wasn't enough for me.)

As soon as I started the herbs with the clay I passed lots of dark green BM. There was also green slime which I still continue to pass! I do not get huge chunks like you see in pictures of mucoid plaque but I'm pretty sure that's what it is coming out little by little.

The things that have improved with my health are amazing!

Rashes on my body and scalp have cleared to nearly nothing.
I had a large gland on my neck that was growing, felt squishy and
itched that my Dr could not explain. It has shrunk to nearly nothing and no long itches. I can hardly feel it now with my fingers.

I have new hair growth on my head. I noticed this chunk of hair growing straight out of the top of my head. I look like a cartoon character and I have to tie my hair back to try to hide it. But don't get me wrong I'm not complaining. I'm so happy!

I used to struggle to have a BM but now I go at least a couple times a day and I don't spend forever in the bathroom. I feel flushed out after I go not like I need to sit back down.

My husband doesn't have the time to take the clay so he just takes the psyllium. It's weird he had ankle pain for 3 months and he could hardly walk without limping. After a couple weeks of taking it his ankle pain is gone. From just taking that he said he saw what looked like white balls in his BM where he hadn't eaten anything like that. So I suggest if anyone wants to start somewhere you start with psyllium if you are too scared to try clay with psyllium. Oh he also had terrible headaches that even woke him from sleep and those are gone too.

I think colon cleansing with herbs and clay is just one of the best things you can do for yourself and if you suffer from some of these conditions I hope you consider it.

Thanks for reading my story and I hope it encourages some of you.

Vamp Very Happy

Hi Vamp!

Welcome back, it's good to 'see you'.

Thank you for sharing your experience with sodium bentonite. I'm certain many people will benefit from the sharing of your experiences.

Recently, I have added an article that focuses on the use of clays for digestive and colon difficulties. I thought you might be interested:

Interesting story at that link.

I had a farm cat I put in my basement over the winter. I originally took her in because she was sick with a runny nose. After treating her with antibiotics her nose cleared up then her eyes started bothering her so I used another pet eye medicine. After that cleared up she got diarrhea so I thought I'd try an eye dropper full of rehydrated clay because I had heard that might clear it up. Let me tell you within hours her diarrhea was gone.

I waited until the next day and gave her wet food with psyllium because she still hadn't gone yet and I wanted to make sure she wasn't plugged up and couldn't go at all. I measured out 1/4 tsp and mixed it in her food. After 2 days she finally went and had a normal BM.

I decided since she wasn't getting the excercise she was getting outside that maybe I would continue her on this so twice daily she got wet food with 1/4 tsp of psyllium for several months. She never had any ill effects and didn't mind the psyllium in her food one bit.

Now with my indoor cats every other day I give them 1/4 heaping tsp of psyllium in wet food. It has made a big difference I can see in the litter box. The reason I started this is because they eat a mostly dry diet and I noticed one of them was having a hard time going. She went to the box 5 times in a row one day and just couldn't go. I could tell she wasn't trying to go pee which is a medical emergency, especially in males (and if you see that don't mess around get your cat to the vet right away or his bladder will burst and kill him).

The next day after the psyllium this cat had no more problems. So If your pets have problems psyllium and clay can be used. I just thought I'd let you know what I found worked for me.

PS: I would love to hear other stories from other members using clay and psyllium on themselves and their pets. Feel free to post in my post if you'd like.

Interesting way you take your clay and psyllium. I never thought about heating the water to mix the clay.
I think I might try a few pounds of sodium clay to compare. I take my clay first thing in morning, then, about an hour later, mix some psyllium husks with lemon and water and drink that. I use ice cold water so the psyllium doesn't gel up so quickly. But, I might try heating up the clay water to see how that does.

Hello rodan,
Thanks for writing back. I'm surprised you take your psyllium
without letting it gel because that can cause nausea or vomiting
in some people so they recommend letting it swell before drinking it. (I mean when taking it with clay.) I've also noticed if you let it gel, less will stick to the sides of the cup so there is less waste too.

You say you take clay now what kind do you take ? Remember if you stir sodium bentonite clay to only use a plastic spoon once you add water. I'm not sure if it matters with other clays but I'd always do it this way.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Vamp

I might give that a try, mixing maybe a teaspoon of psyllium in with the clay, then drink that. Psyllium mixed alone, tends to gel up so quickly, for it me seems a bit "slimey" when drinking it that way.
I am using calcium bentonite clay right now. From my reading, sodium bentonite clay swells up more than calcium. I guess I chose calcium for my first time. I've only been on clay going into my third week now, but, I'm reading all I can about it.
I didn't think people used the sodium bentonite clay internally, till I came across your posts. But, then I'm just starting to find more information.
Taking sodium bentonite clay internally would seem to do a better job at drawing out toxins, I would think.

Hello again rodan,

The sodium bentonite clay I buy is under the name of Montmorillonite. But I warn you it is slimy so that's why I take it separate from the psyllium. When I mix them together I gagged while trying to drink it and I was already drinking it a week or two before I said no more of this. I found it very difficult to drink them mixed together. Imagine drinking thick, gritty, slime, I couldn't gulp it down fast enough! It's much easier and faster to drink them separately.

With psyllium and the Montmorillonite you must let the psyllium soak before drinking it or you will most likely get ill. I had read this and have also experienced it myself by only letting it soak 5 minutes thinking this was enough. Well it's not and you must leave it soak for 10 to 15 minutes. If you let your psyllium soak and keep doing this you should get used to it. It also doesn't taste so bad mixed with apple juice, I didn't care with lemon water I tried that and didn't like it. You can also use apple juice/water with more water than juice. It will be more like an apple cider and a bit tart if you like that flavor. Use maybe 30% to 50% juice and the rest water.

You could also try how you do it with first drinking the clay then later drinking the psyllium if the swelled psyllium bothers you. But I wouldn't drink psyllium with the clay you didn't let swell. Just don't forget to take your psyllium after drinking clay. I don't care what I read about it being safe it has plugged up a cat's intestines so I take no chances.

I'm interested to know how this works for you and how you use it. Please let us know what you find.

On information I read about how to hydrate clay for drinking: I take a half gallon of distilled water, using same plastic container ( some use spring water or drinking water), I then pour, very slowly into that container, about 3/4 cup of Calcium bentonite clay on top of the water. I then shake it, put it away, and shake it some more. I don't drink it for almost a full day, allowing it to hydrate and mix fully. Then, right before I drink it, I shake the container, and pour about two to four ounces into a half full glass of plain water, stir it with a plastic spoon, then, drink quickly.
About an hour later, I take my psyllium husks and lemon water, usually shaking in a shaker of ice cold water to keep psyllium from geling too quckly, then I drink it down. I do this first thing in the morning.
I don't always take it before bedtime, but, I do if if think about it.

Have you had any health benefits from drinking the calcium bentonite clay so far ? I have only tried the sodium bentonite but I might try another type in the future if I found other reasons to try it.

I tried the sodium because it seemed to be the one people used to do a colon cleanse with.

That's why I want to try it, (sodium b clay), maybe it does a better job at colon cleansing and detoxifying than calcium b clay. I"m too new at this, so, lreading and learning all I can.
I have been taking psyllium husks, ( off and on ) for a lot of years, but, never have taken clay. I did notice some colon cleansers would contain small amounts of bentonite in the ingredients list.
When I found out people do take clay internally, for detoxing and other various reasons, I thought clay and psyllium might seem to go hand in hand when it comes to cleansing and detoxing.

As far as any health benefits that I've noticed, it's kinda early, but, I noticed it has helped any gas or belching problems after I eat certain foods. I'm sure it's doing what I'm really after, and that is, detoxing and cleaning me out. I'm sure over time, I will feel better, from the poisons that are rid of my body.
