| My child had a large water blister on the front of her big toe from wearing shoes that were too small. It popped and got infected. After it popped, I applied antibiotic ointment on it and bandaged it. It got infected and for 2 weeks I just kept putting ointment on it hoping it would clear up but it didn't. I then took her to a doctor who put her on erythromycin liquid for 4 times a day for 10 days. This is the first time she has ever had antibiotics. I went back a week later and the doctor said it should have cleared way better by now, that it still looks pretty much the same, which is red with some purple, and the toenail has fallen off. The doctor said if it does not get alot better in 4 days to take her to the emergency room. I have no insurance and no money for any more doctors. The doctor said it had to stay completely dry and to not put any ointments on it since giving her the antibiotic liquid a week ago. I do not think the doctor is correct about this but I do not want her to lose her toe. I have clay, Sacred Clay, which is a blend of clays. Will this help her? It is hard to tell if the skin is broken. The area is very dry and crusty in some parts. It looks the worst right next to the bottom of the toenail bed. New skin has already formed on most of the area which is a pink color. It has not been drained or cut open. The blister popped on its own. It does not hurt her to touch any parts of the toe but she does feel the toe so it is not dead. Any advice would be appreciated. |
