Good morning. I am new here and was actually interested in Ozone Therapy for my father but figured I had best screw my head on first. I suffer from depression and am presently being treated with meds. When I am at my low, the doctor's answers are to simply increase my meds. Can anyone enlighten me on any and all alternative medical practices in regards to depression?

Hi Tim-
That's a BIG topic. I recommend that you start with the basics first, so you don't get lost along the way.
The first thing to examine is your diet and digestive system ( including weight and water drinking habits ).
By digestive system, I also mean what you are digesting with mind and heart. I've assisted a few individuals just by helping them change their life environment.
To start, I recommend reading the book "Restoring your Digestive Health", by Jordan S. Rubin, N.M.D, and Joseph Brasco, M.D.
Although you may not have the serious bowel conditions that are discussed in the book, these guys do a GREAT job in giving a proper understanding of the digestive system.
Kind Regards,

There is a BIG knowledge about treatment of depression by means of healthy food in ancient Indian medicine Ajurveda. There is really a significant influence of the food and function of digestive system.
There are some simple rules of healthy food, you may use them and this will help you to win depression.
1. eat fruits only to the empty stomach, an hour before or 3-4 hours after lunch or dinner;
2. twice daily eat vegetables before processed food;
3. don"t drink water or any soft drink, soda or anything else during or after eating; it"s the main reason of digestive disorders;
4. try to eat less processed food and more natural;
5. it would be better to eat vegetarian food or minimize lean meat, poultry or fish;
6. add bran to the boiled or cooked meal, it cleans the organizm and helps best in the case of depression;
7. there are many other natural methods to help you, you can send me PM. |

Can anyone tell me if a diet designed especially for me is good? Some of my friends recommend me this but neither one of them tried it. i know that celebrities follow this kind of diet but I am curios how effective really is.
Thank you for your help |

Hi Diana:
I have studied "diet" and nutrition for a long time. I believe that proper diet is based on individual need. I believe it is a critical mistake to apply "doctrine" and "dogma" to nutrition.
"One size" does not fit all. For optimum health, we may require a different dietary philosophy at different stages of our lives.
Perhaps at one time in our collective history, the above statement would not be true... but in the POST-modern world, it definately is.
I don't believe that "celebrities" are a good judge of dietary habits... especially since many "celebrities" are young, and their healthful appearance may just be an illusion of youth.
Instead, you may wish to ask yourself what you need to accomplish for your health?
Do I think that people should listen carefully to the words written by Jordan Rubin?
Yes, I do.
I also believe that people interested in nutrition should examine the dietary ideologies of the Weston Price Foundation, and apply consideration ( but only consideration ) to paleo dietary philosophies.

From what I've read Gotu Kola is an excellent herb that among many other health benefits, can help with depression. You may be able to find a plant at a local nursery or garden shop (if they sell herbs). There is an old saying that eating "two leaves a day keeps old age away", or at least I think that's how it goes. It's also great for improving memory and meditation.
North pole magnetic energy has been proven to aid with depression. The Albert Roy Davis lab sells a pair of magnetic lens glasses that can be used for this purpose.
Hot peppers can help too. They have many medicinal benefits and I think one of them is improving mood. |
