New MCA web pages on Cesarean section information
Dear Friends,
Carol Sakala of the Maternity Center Association just sent me the
announcement below. The Maternity Center Association, http://www.maternitywise.org
, is the organization that carried out the Listening to Mothers Survey, initiated a Symposium on pain relief, and published the booklet "What Every Pregnant Woman Should Know About Cesarean Section." They have now created two new pages on their website in response to the new and alarming cesarean section statistics recently released by the CDC. Be
sure to check out these new pages and let others know about them also.
Sincerely,
Susan Hodges "gatekeeper"

Greetings,
Once logging in, look at the menu toward the top of the page... You'll see a series of links... Right below "discussions on Healing Clay..."
One link will take you to your profile, the link next to that one is the messages link.
Best Regards, |

Good day
I just wanted to share my story on VBac. I desperately wanted natural/ water birth with my firstborn/ son. After 26 hours of labour, I ended up having a c section. I was very disappointed, in fact I felt that I failed in doing the natural thing, the inborn thing... but there was nothing that could have been done to have prevented it, he was so stuck, and had quite a deep indentation on the side of his head, for a few weeks after birth!
When I fell pregnant again, I asked my midwives, what the chances are that I could try and have a VBAC. They were fine with it, as was the backup gynae. There were a few things I wouldn't be allowed, like a epidural as well as an induction, which was all fine with me, as well as the gap between my children were bigger than 18 months.
I was heading for being overdue again... so I decided to go for reflexology to bring on the birth naturally. I was not allowed to go over 5 days past my due date, and I made it. Having an active birth was my saving grace, because once again I was not dilating during birth, and by 5 0' clock that afternoon the midwives said that if there is not a fully dilated cervix within the next few hours, we would have to do a caeserean again! My husband and I went for a walk, outside the property into the neighbourhood, and oh my oh my, the contraction came so strong, I could hardly make it back in time. I got into the bath, and my baby was born naturally. The feeling was absalutley overwhelming, that priviledge of being able to hold my baby straight away after birth, and look at her and talk to her, was just more than words can actually pin down on paper! I still get tears in my eyes when I think of it. She started suckling naturally, and it was just like God meant it to be! I thank Him for allowing me to have her naturally!
My encouragement would be to anyone, who are safe to do a VBAC, to go for it. It is such an intimate empowering experience! We were made to do this.
Regards
Martinette |
