| Don't know where I got this information years ago: After tchernobyl nuclear central accident, cow milk was contaminated. Cows were given contaminated clay and milk analysed before and after taking the clay. After ingesting contaminated clay the milk was free of radioactivity. Please, do you know where my info comes from, references? and if that is right, we shouldn't care about ingesting, bathing, pulticing and contaminated clay, any clay should do, right? Turquoise. |

Hi -
I've seen many similiar studies done; most were done by the U.S. Army Corps. However, I'm sorry I cannot point you to any direct studies.
The level of contamination is VERY important to consider. When clay reaches a certain level of saturation, it will start releasing the substances or byproducts.
Since we are trying to use clay to support good health, it is my opinion that only clean clay should be used.
I have tested on several occasions clay heavily contaminated with petro chemicals. The clays were only used externally. After 72 hours, the taste of gasoline was very evident in my saliva.

Jason about the story of the guy covering himself with clay for one hour and his reaction and possibility of dying. Why???
You talk of breathing skin. Clay is porous and the skin should be able to breath, shouldn't it? I use it on injuries, against tetanos, cause my children are not vaccinated against tetanos and always presumed the skin was breathing so was ok, tetanos being anaerobic (lives with no oxygen) I first put hydrogen peroxide and then clay.... |

Hi -
The only concern is if you cover the entire body with thick wet clay, and leave it on for hours. Clay may be porus, but definately only when dry.

Thanks Jason,
So you are saying that when wet it does not let the skin breath?
Here is the closest I have found about the chernobyl exp.

Hi -
...the skin most certainly doesn't breath enough to use it over the entire body at one time, for extended periods of time.
I've covered my entire body with clay for 45 minutes or so, with no real concern ( quite the opposite! ). I've treated isolated areas of the body for 6-8 hours with no real concern. The one concern is packing the clay on thick, over the entire body, and trying to leave it on for hours. The effect is systemic, and not isolated.
