I was told I had a leaky gut right when I found out I was pregnant. I delayed treatment until after having the baby, as my naturopathic doc recommended. To make matters worse, 2 months prior to my son's birth I had a UTI & was on macrobid (antibiotic) for a week. Then while I was in labor I had a fever (among other complications) & I was given several rounds of IV antibiotics. My son was born with a rash on his torso, much like people get when they have a reaction to an antibiotic (I'm a registered nurse, so I see this sort of thing often).
Fast forward to after my son was born: I was unable to breastfeed & we had a horrible time finding a formula that works for him. He is now almost 8 months old & still is VERY spitty with both food & formula. He is clearly VERY allergic to pumpkin & seems to have an intolerance to barley & oat. I have been giving him a probiotic with colostrum in it for many months, but I see no improvement. I definitely think he has a leaky gut & am getting ready to give him some L-glutamine & raw colostrum.
I want to get this taken care of asap & not have any further food allergies/sensitivities &/or malnutrition occur.
I personally am currently following Doug Kauffman's phase one diet & am feeling so great & all my skin conditions have disappeared. I am also taking probiotics, caprylic acid, olive leaf extract, L-glutamine, CLA, DMG, & vitamin D3. The diet just isn't infant-friendly, so I'm hoping there's something more I can do right now. |
