If anyone knows the answer. Was wondering approximately how much of the Silicon in a single dose of Terramin gets absorbed by the body? Seems like an awful lot of Silicon in one take. thanks |

Greetings,
Very little, if any, silicon will be adsorbed by the system, because the silicon is bound as an aluminum silicate ( crystal ).
However, it is possible that some clays may have extra silicon that is in a "nascient" state-- chemically unbound.
I do not believe this to be the case with Terramin, Pascalite, or any of the calcium bentonites that I've experimented with.

Thanks for your response Jason. I’m a little confused though. The Terramin site states that NASA utilized this clay in order to reverse the osteoporosis in the astronauts. If Silicon is an essential nutrient for bone and by what you say, if very little of the Silicon from the clay gets absorbed, then how was/is it helpful to the astronauts in reversing their osteoporosis; which apparently happened. I guess everyone has their reasons for ingesting clay… I've been taking Terramin for the past month for mineral supplementation and energy increase only, but now I’m beginning to wonder if any of these minerals are getting absorbed at all or worse being leached out by the clay with its purging effect. What are your thoughts? thanks |

Hi -
The researchers who did the NASA studies were never able to determine a method of action. Therfore, any opinion on how or why the effect occured is simply blind speculation.
One of the strongest benefit of clay is its ability to act as a catalyst in the body. In this sense, the effect is secondary.

Jason,
OK...so if I'm understanding this; NASA or whoever did the study simply ran tests on animals(rats or whatever) with the clay and observed a change? So the clay behaves as some sort of stimulant or precursor to affect mineralization in the body? That's really weird! The study was done back in the 60's and to this day they're still haven't figured out the dynamics of how it worked? Would you happen to know how much the astronauts ingested safely everyday?...and does the space program still use it for that purpose? thanks |
