...also, astute observers might notice that the particle size characterization was done using TEM ( some "silver marketeers" claim that TEM is not an accurate means to measure particle sizing, even though NIST standards dictate this method to study minute particles ).

Another thing that an observer might have noticed is that these silver nanoparticles had to have their suspension sustained by utilizing other elements besides simple water molecules. Such is the case with protein solutions.

Simply put, these solutions are inferior to covalently bonded silver/water particles created by the Bion water process used to make BIONAID or BIONIC Silver H2O or other products that use this particle [which is so small that, technically, it is not within the EPA classification of colloids], and the resulting nanoparticle products, such as those discussed in the article, will most likely require a prescription from a medical doctor, whereas BION particle products do not. BIONAID is a simple NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENT, and not a DRUG. This is preferred by those who want natural alternatives without paying for a doctor visit/"marriage".

Hi Elder:

Thanks for the thoughts. In this case, the researchers are attempting to use a delivery system for the silver particles. This is not new.

You'll notice that the HOPE bone marrow transplant clinic uses zeolite as a silver ion delivery system. Moisture in the air comes in contact with the surface, and silver ions are released, which helps to keep the environment sterile.

Silverlon, and other wound care products, use similiar systems for delivering silver into tissues.

The polymer this group is using cannot fairly be compared with silver protein, silver citrate, etc, as the silver is still in isolated form, unlike silver compounds.

Good points.

I was severely scratched by a big cat several years ago. It sounded like zippers being unzipped as the claws went down my arm. An alternative minded doctor prescribed SILVADENE Cream for me to put on my arm. The wounds healed up very fast and there are no signs of scars. Had one seen these scars then they would have said that the scars would be there for life. It looked very bad. So, I agree, delivery systems for silver particles is not a new concept.

I did not mean to compare the nanoparticle delivery system with other non-isolated delivery systems, like protein solutions, that do not employ the silver in an isolated form. I only meant to compare the BION particle's simplistic effectiveness of its suspension system which is also the delivery system. I could have been more specific, but that happens when I'm up too late on the old "one-eyed-monster". There is a fine line between delivery and suspension in some cases, and one might see where each crosses that line.

In the case of the BION particle, you have the delivery system of the isolated silver atom being the same as the suspension system.

Noting Zeolite, it has to have air and moisture added during the application to cause the silver ions to be released, as you so aptly noted. The BION particle comes with the moisture and oxygen, and this helps one to understand why it is so uniquely effective and way beyond the silver colloid products now on the retail shelves.

Thanks again for this valuable forum, Jason. I wouldn't be suprised if it is soon credited for saving someone's life, or least a lot of misery.

Samsung has marketed a clothes washer for a couple of years
outside the US with a colloidal silver generator in it. They claim
killing the '650 kinds of bacteria' with some kind of lab certification
to back it up. Probably the 'same 650', that if claimed in the US
[for colloidal silver] will get the FDA/FTC to show up in black
helicopters and haul you away. Wonder what happens when the FDA
butts heads with Samsung, the world's largest Electronics mfgr?
I think Best Buy is/will be selling these in the US.
