Can the use of a water filter made out of quartz and silver help a person develop liver damage (faster) in a person with Hepatitis C?

My mother has been drinking water from a filter made out of quartz and silver ever since she got Hep C from a blood transfusion (26 years ago). She was detected with Hep C 12 years ago, and changed her diet completely to avoid the most liver damage possible. Nevertheless, she developed cirrohsis and has had a lot of problems lately.

Where can I find more information on the subject?
